GM. A look into my 9-5 job. I’m a construction manager. My crew is installing timber piles. Fun fact, timber piles are one of the oldest forms of deep foundations. Early Romans used timber piles for a lot of their structures that are still standing today. In Scandinavia pile driving was also very commonly used. This rig is called a Junttan (Yun-tan) which is a Finish word that crews would chant when they manually pulled the hammer. Instead of a crew of people pulling the hammer with pulleys, this rig works off hydraulics. Disregard the out of plumb piles. There’s quite a few obstructions in the ground here.
