One real weakness I see in Mastodon's design is that, in bending-over backwards to make it so NOTHING bad can happen, it lost most of the natural and automatic ways for engagement and interaction to happen. No algorithm, hidden likes, no commented shares, and as things get increasingly busy and active here, it STILL feels like millions of ships passing in the night, barely seeing each other, much less interacting.
