We have to recognise that a significant number of EU member governments have no desire to deal with us as anything other than a third party. The lack of trust that we can be dependable, not changing our mind on a whim, is a big part of that. But so is the fact that many countries have washed their hands of us and moved on. Why would Slovenia or Lithuania want to deal with our bullshit again?
