I've heard Katie Porter saying we absolutely need immigration here because the labor supply is so tight now that the Red States are trying to legalize child labor.

But as much as I am for immigration - I'm an immigrant myself - I also have to wonder just what it says about our economy and our society that we can't survive without lots more immigrant labor?

There are many millions who could work but don't, maybe those jobs aren't paying enough? Or maybe we are prioritizing growth over life?
