Removing the GST from rental construction by private developers does literally nothing to solve the #housing crisis.
They still won’t build affordable housing.
It creates more over-priced apartments exempt from rent control in most provinces.
A *far* better policy would be to keep charging it and reserve the tax revenue for affordable housing development in conjunction with non-profits, provinces, and municipalities.
