Jake in the desert (npub1ec6…7xfu) I have a copy on disc that I regularly re-watch, and I disagree with you on the need for a modern remake. It still holds up as-is; it just needs a 4K remaster.
A full remake would probably dilute the message, I don't think there's a director in Hollywood today with the backbone to remake this movie without toning it down, or a studio capable of releasing a remake of They Live that didn't pussyfoot.
Likewise for Network. That still holds up today, even though it didn't anticipate 24/7 cable "news", parasocial media, or clickbait.
