It is frustrating for me as it is only hours later that I realise that they were expecting me to read between the lines of what they were saying / understand the subtext.
I assume it's something to do with not being perceived as bossy, however me and my 'tism brain really prefer that people (regardless of gender) just be direct and maybe even blunt¹.
