The classical 1-9-90 approximation works for centralised social networks (1% is actively creating discussions, 9% participate in those discussions, 90% silently listens/consumes) but not for federated networks like #ActivityPub. My new gut feeling. This is why many move from X/Twitter to threads/bluesky as that gives them the environment they expect.
I guess federated will end up/already is in the 20% bucket of the Pareto distribution. And that’s perfectly fine with me.
