If you believe someone is about to kill you and you defend yourself with violence and nobody agrees with you, you will be convicted of a violent crime. If everybody agrees with you, you won't. And this is good, right? This is what we agree should happen, right? Not because of any belief system, just because of a sense of fairness, right? So it does matter that we try to agree on what is true and are not allowed to justify our actions based on what we claim to believe, right?
