According to Riepl's law, new, more advanced media types never replace existing media forms and their usage patterns. Rather, a shift takes place in their field, which leads to a different way and area of use for these older forms.

In the early 1990s, when I was a pixel artist for 16-bit #games, #3D games were emerging. I remember saying that #PixelArt would remain an #art form, no matter how much 3D games would take over. It turned out to be true. 🙂👍
