I remember writing a shell script which informed all the users of a network when the technician (who shall remain nameless) hadn't changed the backup tape. It was my only way to get the job done, as I had influence but no authority. Just as well I did, as those backups saved 3 months work for an MSc student who accidentally left a space before a * in a Unix rm command.",
