I think you are ignoring the fact that you and everyone else is at the mercy of the most popular clients because that is where the users are at.
But regardless, even if you think of Lexicons like some sort of a gentlemen agreement... this shit have been done decades ago with schema.org ... it being a "Lexicon" is useless. It could have been a markdown file and that old have had the same damn result.
My general point is that Lexicons are super overrated and over sold and solve nothing.
