#coffeechain
Most of you will be familiar with the banking system and how it's so full of intermediaries all taking fees and slowing things down, coffee traditionally works the same way. Help us change this 150 year old way of doing things.
Traditionally a coffee grower sells their coffee to a mill, who sells it to an exporter, who sells it to a large importer, who sells it to a local green distributor, who sells it to a local roaster, who sells it to a local coffee shop where you end up buying those beans.
With us the grower sells it directly to us and we then process and roast the coffee and sell it to you. Cutting of all those middlemen helps three things:
1- You get higher quality coffee for the same amount of money
2- You get coffee way faster, for new harvests in El Salvador you can be enjoying them in your home by mid-march. With the traditional model those coffees won't get to you before August or September.
3- The money stays at origin developing industries instead of middlemen
We personally know the growers we work with and pay significantly above market rates to ensure a sustainable model that supports the ones who actually spend a year growing the beans we enjoy in a cup every morning.
We've been told so many times how this model doesn't work, why it won't work, why it can't work, why it'll never catch on.
To them I say:
"The person who says it cannot be done should not interrupt the person who is doing it." - Chinese Proverb
