There’s a theory that humans settled into agricultural societies because they wanted to grow wheat to make beer and it’s wheat that domesticated humans, not the other way around. Instead of gathering from biodiverse sources, humans became hyper-focused on how to grow and store wheat, pouring more time and resources into it. Inventing tools to harvest it. Engaging in labor our bodies weren’t really designed to do.
