I'm absolutely with you on the fundamental obligation to get a life, tend to our own gardens and let others tend to theirs. This is the approach my husband's two aunts who were Benedictine nuns, and very supportive of and loving to us, always lived. It was deeply ingrained in their understanding of Catholicism. If people like them had more power in religious groups, religious groups would be something different from what they often end up being.
