Whenever someone, even a professional in a field, insists that something had to be ritual because it was put away with care, I think about the tiny blown glass animal figurines an elderly man made in my youth, tucked away. I think about a lifetime of collecting unusual things to hang on a holiday tree.

And I think that the words/concepts mundane, ritual, and precious have a lot of places where they are woven together.
