The point might of not been to oppress more people, but it did continue to oppress the people they had in slavery, many generations of them in fact. Many people fought to keep that intact before and after 1776.
Oh I brought up the capital essay as
something I disagreed with. Though you can argue since capitalism requires exploitation to function that becoming a “oppressive force” was inevitable.
