I think the whole bullrun was meant to act as a state-inspired and backed monetary heat sink to make sure all disposable income got sucked into the crypto ecosystem instead of accelerating the purchase of real-world assets that would worsen inflation through 2020/2021.
Notice that they didn’t do shit to stop it until they were comfy with the rescinsion of lockdowns and the assurance of electoral stability. It served its purpose. It’s a bonus they got to roll up the casino for good and fleece millions of young gambling men in the process
