I continue to maintain that Musk did us a favor. His assholery broke the back of the social monopolies, and liberated frustrated developers with new ideas. But things got off to a rocky start. A “new” social media didn’t quite arrive with the first #twittermigration. Ironically, despite many fears of doom, Meta’s arrival could signal a Second Coming for decentralized social.
