I sent them a message saying that I was going to start cleaning everything up very early in the saturday morning, and that I would throw every food that looked too old and any pots and pans that were in the sink instead of cleaned up and stored in their place. They could save anything they didn't want thrown out by cleaning it and storing it in it's place. And then I did it, and threw a shit ton of stuff away..
It was a tiring weekend, but it was deeply satisfying.
I also bought a rice cooker, and I told them that if I ever walked into the kitchen in the morning and saw it sitting there with cold rice inside, or saw it's dirty inner pan thrown into the sink with a bit of water inside, I'd put it in the middle of the kitchen and light it on fire.
So far it has worked to make then clean it up and store it every time they use it.
