It's plausible and verifiable, that the collective cost of the delays are resulting higher government costs, ie a short term injection of funding may result in long-term savings.
Savings would come from reduced costs for detaining people when bail is refused; reduced fruitless court appearances by barristers, judges, police etc; reduced societal costs for people found not guilty etc
