I disagree. A benevolent dictator is actually more optimal than a democracy. As long as the citizens can check the power by taking it away quickly and easily, which they can with the ATprotocol. Combining centralized product roadmaps with decentralized protocols is likely the best strategy for taking on web2 giants as then you can compete on a level playing field. To reach mass adoption the experience has to be 10x better than the existing products, otherwise the masses will never migrate and we will stay a niche community.
