The claim that #systemd has superior features for service templating, eg has named variables and is self-documenting, is nothing more than an uninformed red-herring.
Sometimes #Linux people wade into #FreeBSD areas and ask about replacing the RC system because they think it lacks similar variables and so on... if/when that arises a simple answer is to point them at the 'rc.subr' manpage:
