Bitcoin will likely need a few more soft forks for scalability. LN is awesome but still unlikely capable of dealing with a global economy of 8 Billion users. Things like Covenants, Validity rollups and Drivechains can enhance the LN and could provide alternative ways to scale but even then that might not be enough.
Segwit and taproot were recent soft forks that got consensus by bitcoin community.
