Anyone interested in this can see what happened back in 2014/2015 here .. https://www.rotherham.gov.uk/downloads/download/31/independent-inquiry-into-child-sexual-exploitation-in-rotherham-1997---2013

The Alexis Jay report was in 2014.

In 2015, Sarah Champion (Labour MP for Rotherham) "formed and Chaired the CSE working group of over 40 MPs with cases of group based CSE gangs in their constituencies. She led the group to lobby the then Home Secretary, Sajid Javid, to commission [a] report". Five years later, in 2020, the Home Office eventually publish their own report https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/group-based-child-sexual-exploitation-characteristics-of-offending Sarah Champion says it doesn't go far enough.

Sarah Champion (Labour MP for Rotherham) creates the website https://www.dare2care.org.uk She has been an advocate for the investigation and reporting of CSE ever since.

In 2017, Sarah Champion (Labour MP for Rotherham) finds herself in trouble after writing an article in The Sun newspaper titled, "British Pakistani men ARE raping and exploiting white girls ... and it's time we faced up to it".

So, in 2023, when an opportunity grabbing, political populist announces that there is need for a 'Grooming Gangs Taskforce', I DO find it to be inflaming ‘Islamophobic and xenophobic prejudice'.

I find it difficult to believe that there is a concerted effort to sweep 'Rotherham' under the rug when all this information is available and in the public domain. "For my sins, I already knew the details." In my opinion, this Spectator article misses the point and is an attempt at further inflaming the hate.

Interesting footnote: In 2007, Julian Baggini wrote a book called 'Welcome to Everytown'. In it he explores the most average town in the UK ... Rotherham. If you really want to know what Rotherham was like back when all the CSE stuff was happening, give it a read.

In response to Jess Phillips' "reluctance to back and inquiry into Oldham's grooming gangs". In my opinion, it would be a waste of public money for another inquiry if this nature. Oldham local authority have already published their own report in 2022 ..
https://www.oldham.gov.uk/info/200386/protecting_children/2868/read_the_independent_review_into_historic_child_sexual_exploitation And there has been an independent report published in the same year, headed by Alexis Jay .. https://www.iicsa.org.uk/ To me, all previous governments, including this one, have been slow to react and enact the required rules and regulations as presented by any of the inquiry findings. Jess Phillips, it seems, is just a very bad communicator.
