I made some progress on the Alerce guitar. As you can see braces are new, made from red cedar, tougher and bigger than the previous soft and tiny alerce ones. Then I glued a patch under the bridge, common in some bracing designs. This all helped regain some of the flat shape to the top amd tie the cracks together to not open again in the future with moisture changes. Then I glued some thick, probably 4mm thick, Alerce patches around the mouth to fix the rosette problems and make it rigid.
I will lightly paint with shellac on the inside to make it all less breathable so it gets more stable.
It's a bit ugly but it will work well. The pieces of alerce I added to the mouth are old roof shingles, hundreds of years old, reclaimed. You can see the dark nail hole in the left one
