Sometimes I think about the explosion in motion tracking applications that happened when inertial measurement units got so cheap that they could easily be added to all sorts of devices, starting most famously with the Wii controller.

I feel like we must be very close to having similar modules that can do 'inside out' positional tracking with a custom chip and one or two cameras that could add full 6dof tracking to almost any device.
