As a person who used to ride those same ferries with some frequency (and knew a lot of people who rode them daily) I can assure you that the deckhand was understating it.

I could rant about the general public, but instead I'll say those deckhands are fantastic, calm, and know exactly how to pack a ferry to the limit and get even the most timid of drivers to pull up a few more feet. Three cheers for the hard workers!
