NASA's Psyche mission is almost half a billion kilometers away, headed to a mysterious metal asteroid. In addition to this scientific exploration, the mission is also demonstrating a new laser communications system that should enable NASA to communicate with its missions at up to 100 times the bandwidth of traditional radio transmissions. Some of their tests included sending pet images and a 45-second ultra-high-definition video across hundreds of millions of kilometers.
