Remember the Library Lamps from the previous thread?
Yeah, there are still Library Lamps but they no longer talk about any mechanism, just that they're sturdy and easy to operate.
But there were also STUDENT LAMPS in the 1906 catalogue, touting their ease of use and how they had enough oil to burn for a minimum of nine hours. (Kind of puts into perspective how often you had to refill the damn things, if that's an ad-worthy time?) And here, in 1902, there are gasoline incandescent light fixtures. "So simple that any child can easily understand and operate it."
