Not entirely sure that I’m getting on with Los Angeles. It’s full of derelict or near-derelict buildings (here’s a big skyscraper, 90% complete, that was abandoned and is now tagged on every floor). It has surprisingly good and cheap public transport (a flat $1.75 for an hour’s journey), but the city itself doesn’t seem liveable, with great swathes of closed businesses. Santa Monica, where I went today, was disappointingly half-closed. Hmm.
