I repaired my stand mixer in the midst of a big baking project today. I ran into a snag when I needed a magnetic screwdriver, but didn’t have one. Then I remembered what we learned about magnets in elementary school—any bit of steel or iron can be magnetized. I grabbed a fridge magnet, rubbed it on the screwdriver, made it weakly and briefly magnetic, got the set screw back in, and resumed the big baking project! My dad would be so proud. This is the most my dad thing I’ve ever done!
