Was at an event with one of the families from my daughters school. I've known the father for quite a while and knew what he did - CFO of a company in the "crypto" space. However, i never had mentioned bitcoin to him.
While getting some food with him we got to chat a little. He admitted he had zero interest in bitcoin until Larry Fink got interested. Larry has undoubtedly legitimized bitcoin to some extent for normies. However, he still couldn't find a reason for bitcoin to exist.
- US debt situation? It will sort itself out.
- State of politics in the US? That's just because we have some lazy politicians it will sort itself out next election cycle. Just have to vote harder.
- US weaponizing the dollar and SWIFT against perceived enemies? That's just because Putin is evil.
It was at this point where i knew i should jus shut up and find something else to talk about otherwise i'm about to be that "conspiracy" person he hears about on CNN.
his post was inspired by seeing the Ohio State commencement speaker. People are still comfortably numb and complacent. I thought the covid-era printing, subsequent inflation, then predictable financial hardship for a lot of Americans would have people asking some hard questions. Apparently, we have not yet reached that pain threshold.
tl;dr It's still really early.
