Limits are a form of hubris in that they think they can prevent the disintermediation of bank deposits by placing holding limits on CBDC accounts. But CBDC accounts would still drain hundreds of billions in bank deposits, threatening financial stability. They have big egos and CBDCs might be their dumbest idea to date.
