Congrats to Tyshawn Sorey for his Pulitzer Prize for his composition 'Adagio (For Wadada Leo Smith)'. While living in Hartford CT, I attended his graduation recital at Wesleyan for Masters in Classical Composition degree. It was the oddest musical performance. There was an operatic soprano singing about dismembering bodies and blood in the streets. At one point, Sorey picked up a trombone. I thought he would play it, but instead violently beat it with drumsticks. #jazz
