came here for the cub community, stayed here for Rusty's political posts 👏 Seriously though, this is what's been really weighing on me too. I DO understand the left's frustrations. I too would like better options. But we effectively have a two-party system. The right will back the republican candidate regardless of whether they truly like him and all he's done. The left insists on being divisive when the consequences of such right now is incredibly dire. We can't get everything we want (and deserve). But this has been true since forever.

The most realistic solution, however, is to vote for the democratic candidate lest we lose to a fascist, continue to make change in the House and Senate, contact our local representatives on issues that we are adamant to change or preserve, and push on both the local and federal level for ranked choice voting so we don't remain a two-party system indefinitely. Yes, it sucks, but it's the most feasible thing to do. Changes made on a smaller scale has a ripple effect - we've seen it from both sides. Gay marriage became legal in state after state before it was recognized on a federal level. The reverse is true right now for trans rights, as we're seeing more and more states pushing legislation to persecute us. The more we focus on where we have the biggest voice, the better chance we have at making change on a larger scale.
