why is it that every computer I touch ends up with the most cursed issues imaginable?

currently: looks like cpu is overheating, but the highest reported temp is <70C
memory is ok, storage is ok, linux doesn't even boot any more....

might be dust I guess? Pretty much just grasping at straws, guess I can try bringing this thing to work and blow it out with compressed air
