When people say "connect the dots - it's all there in front of you" in relation to some supposed conspiracy, remember that we are heavily wired to "connect dots" and see patterns. That's what comes naturally to us.
The tricky part often isn't finding patterns in data, but rather *ignoring* them and looking at the data itself.
