So helps to think more or promote questions or show that someone is thinking around certain things without calling it X (which can also be a mistake as X or names are often not named right or able to put finger on).
Language is often a searching for understanding, so like helps in that even if it's 'lower' in itself, it still allows an outlet that I'm not sure fits so universally with other words or ways without being professor level about it.
