The prophet Isaiah lived some 7 centuries before Jesus, yet he proclaims here that God will never forget us, that he has gone so far as to engrave us in the palms of his hands. The prophecy refers to the crucifixion, of course, when Christ was nailed to a tree by his hands and feet. God loves us as a mother loves her newborn baby.
