yeah, been there... in my case it wasn't an affair that ended things but her calling off the wedding with two weeks notice. I was there for them both in the immediate aftermath, but over the years it's the man child I've remained friends with, and kind of organically now don't have any contact with the nearly-wife. I introduced them and was really close to both. As a friend if I were in a pinch, though, I know he would always come through for me, she'd be there... at her convenience.
