I think they can do a lot better than the conservatives in terms of just competence and longer term certainty for businesses. This will in itself promote growth and investment.

They also can try to channel investment away from property to business by increasing the requirements and minimum standards for domestic landlords.

But I agree that this is all fiddling with the deckchairs while Rome is sinking.
