I'd be tempted to try it. I wanted to print off the instructions but you have to be a paying member to do that. I guess I've used up my free views reading their articles. In the past I scrubbed the carbon buildup off as best I could with steel wool and used Crisco to season. I never heard of washing with vinegar or doing repeat steps of the oiling and heating.
