I don’t support putting humans in cages. I think if someone violates another persons property, then making amends is justified. For example, if someone breaks my window, then that person should replace my window and potentially compensate for any inconveniences caused. Throwing that person in jail for an arbitrary period of time does not fix my problem (the broken window).
I never believed that morals and values don’t matter. But they are subjective. That’s something I try to keep in mind.
