I think this is pretty normal across most clients. Fetching all comments, likes and zaps on a thread does not make sense if you are just scrolling by. If you decide to stop to read, that’s a good time to get all of that.
This helps maintain the smooth scrolling as you go up or down the feed and also keep your data consumption low.
