Agreed; my erstwhile University was fully of staff claiming it was 'research intensive'... but as I used to often point out (not to their pleasure it should be said), given 85% of income was related to teaching, that was really the business we were in... this was usually deployed against senior academics treating teaching as a 'necessary evil' rather than the humanistic project I saw it as...
