Putting on historical costuming hat. They are getting better about doing period hair and what not. So to some people the costumes don't resonate as well because they aren't as familiar. For me a lot of the old versions don't hold up because the hair is more 1970's than 1926. Those versions feel fake and forced to me because they are so rooted to when they were produced.
