When I don't get too wrapped up in the whether it's literally true, I feel so much more free to learn from Christianity and from my Christian friends.
It seems to me that our modern time is weird this way. I assume that for most of human history, we had the stories that our tribal culture gave for the universe and we aligned our actions and beliefs with those stories. I doubt that there was any question of choosing a religion or figuring out whether we believed in it or not, but rather that spirituality was embedded in the way we lived in the world.
