Diabetes Rant of the Day
Quality control in manufactured foods is not just a fairness issue. For some, it is the difference between glucose control and a dangerous low.
When it is severely off, it’s easy…but when what you “know” ain’t so…things can get dicey.
Before the judgement of “don’t buy prepackaged foods” is issued, ask yourself how many carbs your breakfast was (in grams) and whether they were slow acting or fast and what their glycemic index was. These standardized foods are a life/timesaver for busy diabetics…but only if legitimate nutritional information is provided.
