It looks like cdparanoia's sample offset feature doesn't work correctly with the first track (presumably because it starts at sector 0) if you use a negative offset
. The output is missing the first sector. I even tried instead of using -O-6 using -O582 -t-1 but it didn't work either. I know that it's probably all zeroes but it bothers me that the length is incorrect. I wish that it would warn you that it can't read the first few samples but pad it to have the proper length. (For example, I just ripped a CD with -O0 and the size is 464599968, and then I ripped it again with -O-6 and the size is 464597616 (a difference of 2352 (588 frames (1 sector))). )I think that I will have to use -O0 always and then manually offset it and pad the beginning with zeroes.
